Citytripping In The Netherlands
A couple of years ago my boyfriend and I visited Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands and famous for its canals and party scene. It was our very first trip together and I enjoyed every second of it. Belgium and The Netherlands are neighbours but I havn’t visited any other Dutch cities since that trip to Amsterdam. Time for change!
I invited one of my best friends and together we spent a long weekend citytrippin’ around. Our first stop was Valkenburg, a small Dutch city close to the Belgian border. During the day we enjoyed the cosy streets of Valkenburg while catching up with each other’s lives. We visited the ruins of the Valkenburg Castle, the only castle in the country built on a hill. We also rode the cable car which was not the most spectacular thing ever, but probably fun if you’re visiting with kids. In my opinion a few hours is enough to explore the city. In the evening it’s really fun to have some drinks outside though.
The next day we decided to go to Maastricht, which is only a twenty-minute drive from Valkenburg. Maastricht is a fun town which hosts many (international) students. We shopped A LOT, had drinks and made a walk on the medieval city wall. It was a great weekend and I can’t wait to explore more of The Netherlands in the future!
Any suggestions for my next trip?
